Abstract: THE INFORMATION REQUESTED IS NEEDED ANNUALLY TO IDENTIFY THE UNIVERSE OF ACTIVE SWORDFISH FISHERMEN AND THEIR GENERAL FISHING STRATEGIES. THESE DATA ARE ESSENTIAL FOR ESTABLSIHING A STATISTICALLY VALID SAMPLING DESIGN TO MONITOR AND MANAGE THE FISHERY. ALL COMMERCIAL SWORDFISH FISHERMEN MUST COMPLY. RECREATIONAL SWORDFISH FISHERMEN IN THE MID-ATLANTIC AREA MUST ALSO COMPLY.
