Abstract: MEDICARE PROGRAMS. LABORATORIES. SECTION 1881(B)(2)(B) OF THE SOCIAL SECURITY ACT REQUIRES THAT OPA/HL'S BE PAID REASONABLE COSTS FOR THEIR SERVICES. THE HCFA-216 IS COMPLETED ANNUALLY BY OPA/HL'S AND IS USED BY A MEDICARE INTERMEDIARY (AETNA) IN DETERMINING THE REASONABLENESS OF OPA/HL CHARGES.
