Abstract: UNDER P.L. 97-248, PROVIDERS OF MEDICARE SERVICES WILL BE REIMBURSED BASED ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THEIR CASE MIX. THE CASE MIX INDEX IS CALCULATED ON A SAMPLE OF PROVIDER BILLS. THE PROVIDER MAY VOLUNTARIL SUBMIT 100% OF ITS BILLS TO OBTAIN A RECALCULATION OF THE INDEX.
