Abstract: THE 1982 ECONOMIC CENSUSES, CONDUTED UNDER THE PROVISION OF TITLE 13, CONSTITUTE THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF FACTS ABOUT THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONING OF A LARGE SEGMENT OF THE ECONOMY, AND AS SUCH, PROVIDE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION FOR GOVERNMENT, BUSINESS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC THEY FURNISH AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE FRAMEWORK FOR THE NATIONAL ACCOUNTS AND SERVE AS A BENCHMARK FOR KEY ECONOMIC INDICATORS.
