Abstract: MEDICARE CARRIERS ARE REQUIRED TO CONDUCT EXTERNAL AUDITS WITH MEDICARE BENEFICIARIES TO CONFIRM SERVICES RENDERED BY PHYSICIANS AND OTHER HEALTH CARE SUPPLIERS. THE BENEFICIARIES ARE ASKED TO IDENTIFY DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN SERVICES RENDERED AND BILLED, AND THE AMOUNT CHARGED FOR COINSURANCE.
