Abstract: HCFA HAS THREE ONGOING EXPERIMENTS IN MAINE, ILLINOIS AND UPSTATE NEW YORK THAT ARE TESTING VARIOUS FORMS OF COMPETITIVE FIXED PRICE PROCUREMENT IN PART B OF MEDICARE. THIS STUDY IS TO PROVIDE A BASIS FOR USE BY HCFA MANAGEMENT IN EVALUATING ITS LONG RANGE CONTRACTING OPTIONS WITH CARRIERS.
