Abstract: UNDER SECTIONS 6 AND 19 OF THE SECURITIES EXCHANGE ACT OF 1934, A REGISTERED OR EXEMPTED EXCHANGE MUST BE ORGANIZED AND HAVE THE CAPACITY TO CARRY OUT THE PURPOSES OF THE ACT AND MUST HAVE RULES DESIGNED TO PROTECT INVESTORS AND THE PUBLIC INTEREST. RULE 6A-2 AND FORM 1A, ADOPTED IN 1950, ARE DESIGNED TO ENABLE THE COMMISSION TO CARRY OUT ITS OVERSIGHT FUNCTIONS AND TO ASSURE THAT SUCH EXCHANGES CONTINUE TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE ACT.
