Abstract: SECTIONS 216(I), AND 233(D) AND 1614(A) OF THE SOCIAL SECURITY ACT DEFINE "DISABILITY" FOR PURPSOSES OF ESTABLISHING ENTITLEMENT TO DISABILITY BENEFITS. FORM SSA-824 IS USED TO OBTAIN SPECIFIC MEDICAL DOCUMENTATION FROM A MEDICALT PHYSICIAN TO DOCUMENT THE SEVERITY OF THE CLAIMANT'S CONDITION AND HIS/HER MENTAL COMPETENCE.
