Abstract: IRC SECTION 472 ALLOWS A TAXPAYER (INDIVIDUAL OR CORPORATION) TO VALUE HIS OR HER INVENTORY UNDER THE LAST-IN FIRST-OUT (LIFO) METHOD IF HE OR SHE FILES FORM 970 OR A STATEMENT CONTIANING ALL THE INFORMATION CALLED FOR ON FORM 970. THE INFORMATION NOTIFIES THE IRS THAT THE TAXPAYER IS ELECTING THE LIFO METHOD.
