Abstract: THE PURPOSE OF THE RETAIL INVENTORY VALUATION SUPPLEMENT IS TO COLLECT DATA ON THE METHOD(S) USED TO VALUE INVENTORY REPORTED ON THE RETAIL INVENTORY SURVEY (RIS). BECAUSE SEVERAL METHODS OF INVENTORY VALUATION ARE AVAILABLE, THE SUPPLEMENT HELPS DETERMINE THE IMPACT OF THE DIFFERENT METHODS ON SUMMARY STATISTICS FROM RIS. BEA IS THE PRIME DATA USER, AND USES THESE DATA TO ADJUST THEIR MONTHLY INVENTORY DATA
